Tuscany Awaits You!

My grandpa asked me: why do you lead these retreats all over the world? Why not do something at home?

The Venue: Montemelino Estate

About the Venue

Nestled in the rolling hills between Umbria and Tuscany, Montemelino Vineyard is an organic, family-owned farm overlooking the picturesque Lake Trasimeno. Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes and quiet Tuscan villages, it offers a peaceful setting to slow down and savor all that the week has to offer.

The property produces its own quality wines and olive oil and features beautifully restored cottages transformed into eco-friendly apartments. Powered by solar energy and thoughtfully equipped with modern comforts, the property offers the perfect blend of rustic charm and contemporary living. There are two swimming pools, private terraces, and plenty of space to relax and take in the surrounding beauty.

Retreat Highlights

  • Farm to Table Food

Good food is at the heart of the Italian experience, and at Eat, Play, Move, we'll have plenty of it!

Enjoy delicious, farm-to-table meals prepared by our private chef, featuring fresh, seasonal ingredients and the flavors of the Tuscan countryside. Each evening, we'll gather for a leisurely three-course dinner, served beneath the pergola or in the dining room, with outdoor dining whenever the weather allows.

Mornings begin with a delicious breakfast and plenty of choices to fuel the day ahead. From fresh, satisfying meals to long dinners shared over good conversation, there's something special about slowing down and enjoying food together.

    Dietary needs can be accommodated.

  • Guided Town Tours

Cortona: Explore this medieval hilltop town known for its breathtaking views, winding streets and wonderful restaurants. If you’ve seen Under the Tuscan Sun, you’ll recognize this town!

Montepulciano: Discover the beautiful historic town located in the Orcia Valley, renowned for its exceptional wines. It’s a serene place to wander, sip, and soak up the Tuscan atmosphere.

Siena: Step back in time in one of Tuscany’s most iconic medieval cities. Known for its remarkable Renaissance architecture and rich cultural heritage, surrounded by rolling hills and vineyards.

In each town, a local historical guide will join us to bring the stories, culture, and history of these incredible places to life. Afterwards, you’ll have 2-3 hours of free time to explore at your own pace, browse the shops, and enjoy a leisurely lunch.

  • Pizza Cooking Class

There's something wonderfully satisfying about making something from scratch, especially when it's pizza! We'll roll up our sleeves for a hands-on pizza-making class where you'll learn the art of creating your own delicious Italian pizza. Get messy, have fun, learn something new, and of course, enjoy the fruits (or rather, the dough!) of your labor.

  • Mt. Gualandro Hike

Lace up your shoes and join us for a scenic hike up Mt. Gualandro! We'll wander through olive groves, wooded trails, and the beautiful Umbrian countryside before reaching the historic Castle of Montegualandro. Dating back to medieval times, this hilltop fortress offers incredible views overlooking Lake Trasimeno and its surrounding landscape. It's a chance to get outside, move your body, explore a little history, and experience the beauty of Italy beyond the charming towns and vineyards.

  • Thermal Baths

We'll spend some time soaking in the naturally heated mineral waters of San Giovanni Terme Rapolano, surrounded by the beautiful rolling hills of the Tuscan countryside. With multiple indoor and outdoor thermal pools at varying temperatures, it's the perfect opportunity to slow down, unwind, and let the warmth do its thing. Think warm water, beautiful views, and absolutely nowhere else you need to be.

  • Daily Movement Classes

Let's give our bodies some love through movement! I will be leading movement sessions at least once per day. The nature of said movement will depend on our group and what everyone's body's need. Movements may include yoga, strength training, mobility work, stretching, and secret cardio.

  • Daily Meditation Sessions

Let's ground into ourselves with mindfulness meditation and balance our energy with Reiki healing! I will be leading a mindfulness meditation and/or group Reiki session every evening. Again, the nature of said sessions will depend on the group.

  • Sound Bath

I like to think of my sound baths as meditative concerts.

Your Retreat Facilitator

Hi! I’m Rachel and I am SO excited for you to join me in Tuscany for this playful retreat.

My intention as a movement coach, body educator, and energy worker is to help you come home to your body. To come home to that strength, joy, and intuition that is already yours. And what I’ve found is that even though Bali is thousands of miles away for so many of us, she feels like home. She helps us come home.

There is no one size fits all approach to any problem or struggle whether it be mental, physical, or spiritual. That’s why I practice and teach so many things! You can click here if you’re wondering about what those things might be!

But there are two things I’ve found are often missing from the popular healing practices like physical therapy, medicine, meditation, etc.

And that is joy and community.

Everything is always so serious! And increasingly more alone..

But we need to play! We need to laugh!

What better way to tell our cells that we are safe than through pleasure and happiness?

And “healing is not a solitary endeavor. It thrives within the embrace of community.”

We need to be witnessed! We need to be together!

And what better way to feel truly seen than to experience the vulnerability of glee in community?

So let’s experience the wonders of Bali together. Let’s ground into the deeply unique yet utterly universal sensations of what is the human experience. Let’s move, play, laugh, eat, and live. Together.

As JOY BECOMES US.

Participant Experiences

  • "If I could sum up what this trip has meant, it would be incredible transformation. Having a doctorate in physical therapy, I know the body, but I'm still learning how to understand and connect with my body. Rachel helped me increase that awareness and allow myself to slow down enough to connect on a level I didn't know was possible. This retreat has brought so much beauty and such a deeper level of understanding that I didn't even know I was missing out on. And for that I am so incredibly grateful. Bali truly changed my life.

    Caity F.

  • "I'm still in awe of the beautiful culture and community I was lucky to experience on the Joy Becomes Us retreat in Bali. I tried so many new things, had powerful conversations with incredible new friends, and felt a sense of peace I've never experienced before.

    Valerie N.

  • "A massive THANK YOU! For opening up yourself and creating such a welcoming, joyful, and healing environment for everyone. Holy cats, I am truly forever grateful for the internal healing process that has been started that I wasn't expecting, but I guess I was ready for!

    Briita N.

  • I saw Rachel's face on a flyer in my Pilates studio bathroom and I thought-you know, I would trust her, I would go across the world with her. And when we first met, it was this really cool connection. I didn't think I would find a good friend and a community with her and all the people she brought to this retreat, but I've made lifelong friends here. Everyday on this retreat has been so rejuvenating, I'm so happy, and I would do it again!
